DRAMA, THEATRE AND FILM STUDENTS FLOCK TO SCARBOROUGH

Drama, theatre and film students from all over the country will flock to Scarborough from 15th – 21st March 2008.

The National Student Drama Festival (NSDF) has had its home in Scarborough since 1990 due to the support of University of Hull, Scarborough Campus, The Stephen Joseph Theatre and Scarborough Borough Council.

The National Student Drama Festival combines diverse and challenging student theatre, an ambitious workshop and master class programme and intense debate. The programme embraces and develops all facets of contemporary theatre and performance practice.

NSDF is open to everyone: colleges, youth theatres, community organisations and universities. The majority of those attending are not connected with a Festival production. The Festival takes place each spring and offers opportunities to learn more about all aspects of theatre acting, writing, directing and designing.
NSDF publishes its own daily newspaper, NOISES OFF, and NSDF participants can submit reviews, articles and graphics throughout the Festival.

The event has provided a stepping stone for the careers of many top-name performers including Stephen Fry, Rik Mayall, Simon Russell Beale, Meera Syal, Michael York and John Nettles, as well as Mark Gatiss and Steve Pemberton of The League of Gentlemen.
