Later in the year the outside comes alive, first the Mississippi Drifer makes it way outside and into the Grand Canyon and then when summer starts, well for us anyway (May Day Bank Holiday) there are more great rides; The Screamer – yeh, it will make you scream! The Tennesee Twister and the Louisianna Leap – sorry Mum and Dad, strictly for the under12’s.

Peasholm Park has a tranquil lake on which people can hire boats of all sorts. Boats include traditional rowing boats and canoes, but pedalos with dragon heads are available too, and these prove to be extremely popular with summer visitors and locals alike.

Is there any place nicer than to sit on the terrace overlooking the beautiful lake on a hot August afternoon while listening to music from the bandstand on the lake?

There are two cafes where hot and cold drinks can be purchased, and of course, ice cream, plus sandwiches and full meals.

Peasholm Park is a haven of tranquillity on Scarborough’s North Bay – unless the battle ships are taking pot shots at one another!

At times during the summer season, war breaks out on the Lake when 20ft replica boats recreate the tensions of a battle at sea.
